Amid the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, we were more than pleased to provide boxes of fresh fruit to a food share project at the end of last week to support those being greeted by empty supermarket shelves across our HQ county.

We packaged up healthy helpings of vitamin C rich fresh fruit to donate to the local community through the Food Share Project UK.

The Food Share Project is an initiative based close to our UK HQ in Shropshire and works in partnership with local stores and the wider community to collect and distribute local surplus food before it is disposed of or incinerated. Within the current crisis we reached out to offer support as ‘surplus’ is fast becoming a thing of the past – for now.

Inside the crates of fresh we placed a variety of top quality fruit including our Costa Rican crownless pineapples, punnets of grapes, vitamin C rich citrus, bananas and honeydew melon.

Contributing to a healthy immune system

Eating good quality and varied fresh produce is an exceptional way of ensuring that your body has access to the plethora of minerals, antioxidants and vitamins you need to contribute to a healthy immune system.

For those of our staff that remain in work on a rota system, as key workers in the food supply chain; we’re offering a piece of free fruit each day to contribute some of the vitamins needed to support a healthy and varied diet.
