Now into WEEK 20, we’re pleased to continue with the picking and packing of our fantastic Star Ruby grapefruit from our farms in South Africa.
Our Star Rubies are grown to a premium sizing to offer a higher juice content than other varieties.
The signature tart and bitter-sweet flavours, make the variety a firm favourite globally. Not only prized for its taste, Star Ruby’s red flesh really makes it stand out!
On farm in Limpopo
Our Head of Sales, Gareth Wilcock is pleased with out citrus season so far this year and says;
“We are impressed with both the yield and the quality that our team are packing in South Africa. The fruit looks much improved from 2021 and we are delighted to be packing to export globally. Not only focussing on Star Ruby grapefruit, we’re also looking ahead to our upcoming Valencia orange harvest in just two short weeks. Reports from the farm are extremely positive in terms of quality so we look forward to providing them to our global client base”.
A market update…
The market continues to remain stable; our own production and that of our Growing Together partners has progressed to a good volume.
The Eastern Cape is now also in full swing with its lemons, Novas and Navels with fruit leaving the port this week. Volumes and vessels leaving Durban Port continue to increase as the area deals with the aftermath of flooding. Just three weeks until our Valencia oranges are harvested from our own farms.
