Cultivated in prime South African farmland, our Valencia oranges continue to harvest.
As we move through our Turkey and Benny orange crop, we’re excited to be harvesting our premium Midknight and Delta varieties next on farm in Limpopo.
The orange season so far
We’ve seen higher than anticipated volumes of Turkeys harvested this year, with an abundance of class one fruit.
Head of Farming, Kobus said:
“We’re delighted with the yield of Turkey Valencia’s we’ve seen this season.
We hand pick our fruit at the optimum time to preserve the condition and taste ahead of being packed in our on-farm, world-class packhouse for our global retail customers.
It’s all hands are on deck to start our Midknight and Delta harvest next.”
Valencia Midknight oranges
In 1927, this delicious variety was first grown in an orchard in Addo in the Eastern Cape.
Now nurtured on Jupiter farms in the north of South Africa, our premium Midknight oranges have a strong, delicious flavour often referred to as ‘tart and tangy’.
Unsurprisingly, the average nutrient rich Midknight orange can provide a huge 116% of your recommended daily intake of vitamin C, helping with the healthy function of your immune system.
Valencia Delta oranges
Originating from South Africa, the Delta citrus variety has slowly spread across the world since 1952.
The intense flavour of the large and juicy seedless Deltas have well-coloured, moderately thin and very smooth rind.
Inside, the soft succulent textured fruit has a light orange flesh and naturally sweet taste, making it a firm customer favourite.
