Due to our prime farm location in South Africa, we are amongst the first in the season to start with Valencia oranges.
From weeks 20-22 our Turkey and Benny Valencia oranges will start to harvest in Maswiri in the Limpopo province of South Africa.
Our Turkey Valencia’s have good colouration and refreshingly juicy flesh housed under a moderately thin and easy to peel skin. The early maturity of this variety alongside the high juice content and good eating quality makes it an extremely popular fruit.
Our Benny Valencia oranges are also early maturing fruit with a uniform size and a deep orange colouration when fully mature. Benny’s are easier to peel than many orange varieties and have soft and juicy segments when opened.
From week 23 onwards our premium Midknight variety Valencia oranges will be harvested on farm too. With a juicy eating quality, Midknight’s are a fantastic snack or excellent when used as a juicing orange. The strong flavours coupled with the tart and tangy quality makes a great premium juice drink.
Diversifying our offering
Our geographical spread in Limpopo and Kwazulu- Natal in the Eastern and Western Cape respectively, allows us to pack Valencia oranges at the same time as Navels, which means we can cater to the specific needs of a market globally. With their unique flavour profiles this can diversify the offering for customers.
Utilising our own specialist packing lines, our citrus is packed at source and is available in a selection of varieties and sizes. Our state of the art GREEFA packing line allows us to pack 50 tons per hour which is around 1,000 bins per shift.
South African grown citrus
Our citrus offering grown in South Africa doesn’t stop at oranges as our Eureka lemons, Star Ruby grapefruit, clementines and Navel oranges are also available from the region.
Citrus grown in South Africa profits from mild and almost frost-free winters and average temperatures in-line with a tropical climate.
