In the most recent conversation as part of our podcast series from ‘The Pod’, our Commercial Director Steve Barker and Technical Director Cristian Metzger discussed new variety table grapes and our Chilean season so far.

Our Chilean table grape season started in January and will offer fruit until around WEEK 19.

Last year’s harvest of our new variety grapes, ARRA 15 (ARRA Sweeties ™) and Maylen® were extremely well received with their exceptional quality often noted.

As well as our fantastic new varieties, classic table grapes such as Thompson, Red Globe and Crimson are also an important aspect of the season.

Naturally fertile varieties

Speaking as part of our ‘New table grape variety developments in Chile’ podcast, Technical Director Cristian discussed our Chilean farms:

‘Our volume has increased significantly because we have changed the way that we manage that farm. And if you think of ARRA 15, we have taken advantage of its natural ability to be more fertile than similarly timed varieties.’

Cristian continues, talking about new variety grapes ARRA 15 (ARRA Sweeties™) and Maylen®:

Our Chilean ARRA 15 are ‘a really good size and brix and comply with all of the specifications’ Not to mention our Maylen that ‘have a fantastic taste and high brix’
