Immune boosting, thirst-quenching watermelon is celebrated each year on August 3rd on National Watermelon Day. The iconic summer months fruit, well known for its deep pink flesh, black seeds and vibrant green rind, is interestingly made up of a whopping 92% water!
Jupiter Group’s prepared watermelon
Prepared by hand in our BRCGS AA graded facility, our watermelon is diced and sliced into pots and trays to exacting customer specifications.
Earlier this year, we joined forces with packaging supplier Sharpak Aylesham and the Prevented Ocean Plastic™ (POP) initiative to introduce a recycled solution for our prepared fruit punnets. Our 400g watermelon chunks being one of the first to hit UK retailers.
Alongside the juicy chunks, we also supply 180g watermelon slices as part of our food-to-go fruit range.
Additional melon supply
In addition to our prepared watermelon, we also supply the Cantaloupe melon and Honeydew melon varieties in our heat-sealed fruit salad, melon and grape duo and melon medley pots, all of which are 180g.
The benefits of eating melon
Melon is packed to the brim with nutrients, contains very few calories and is exceptionally refreshing to eat due to its extremely high-water content.
What’s more, it’s a good source of both citrulline and lycopene, two powerful plant compounds that are great antioxidants.
Health studies suggest that melon may have a number of additional health benefits too, including contributing to lower blood pressure, improved insulin sensitivity and reduced muscle soreness.
Who knew the melon was such a mighty fruit?!
