To celebrate Earth Day this year we are reflecting on how we protect the environment and give Mother Nature the opportunity to thrive.
Through modern farming practices and technological advancements, we’re able to limit our agricultural impact on the earth across our farms globally.
By restricting our use of chemicals during the cultivation of our fresh produce, ensuring high irrigation standards and by shipping directly from source, we’re working towards reducing the environmental factors involved in farming.
Our transparent way of working and remote data systems also reduce the need for paper and the pollution associated with travel.
Prevented Ocean Plastic™
Another way that we continue to support the safeguarding of the environment is to take action against plastic pollution making its way to our oceans.
By joining forces with the Prevented Ocean Plastic™ (POP) initiative and our packaging supplier Sharpak Aylesham we have been able to introduce a recycled solution for our prepared fruit punnets.
Our 400g Watermelon and Pineapple packs, already supplied into two major retailers in the UK, are Jupiter’s first punnets to include Prevented Ocean Plastic™ (POP) and divert high quality plastic from the ocean.
What is Earth Day?
Founded in the USA in 1970, the first Earth Day was the brainchild of a United States senator and aimed to raise awareness of environmental issues. Within 20 years Earth Day was an event celebrated by more than 140 countries around the globe.
