Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day is celebrated globally. We’re taking a moment to appreciate the women that make Jupiter tick.
International Women’s Day (IWD) has occurred for over 100 years, with the first gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people attending rallies all over the world. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively and is not aligned to any country, group or specific organisation.
Proud of our working women
It goes without saying that we’re immensely proud of the women that work for us here at Jupiter. Occupying key positions in the business, women are an integral part of Jupiter’s success. In a typically male dominated sector, we believe that the character and skillset of our working women are important to growth in the business and ultimately, the industry itself. As a global fresh produce grower and supplier, we’re keen to ensure that gender equality issues remain at the forefront of conversations.
We’re continually working on furthering the industry in any way that we can, that’s why we’re so pleased to support Global Women Fresh and the important work they’re doing in fresh produce. Did you catch Joint MD Yvonne on stage at Berlin Fruit Logistica in February? Make sure to keep an eye out for the next edition of our corporate magazine Global Roots for the full update.
The Global Women Fresh mission and ethos to inspire and connect individuals from grassroots through to executive level in the sector aligns with our own Jupiter core values as we aim to change the landscape of the industry.
Women creating a competitive edge
Our Head of People Teresa says:
“At Jupiter, we celebrate diversity because we recognise that the pool of diverse individuals in our organisation creates a competitive edge for us and ultimately fuels future growth. We will continue to invest in initiatives to support the individual professional growth of female employees”
