As part of our duties as a responsible business, we take the wellbeing of our employees particularly seriously, ensuring that we are able to provide a suite of available actions to contribute to wellness across Jupiter Group and beyond.
Global Wellness Day (GWD) was first celebrated in Turkey in 2012 and due to its ongoing success, 2019’s event was celebrated simultaneously in over 150 countries and at 8,000 locations with events including Tai Chi, Zumba, a 45km marathon and a global medical care initiative for children.
GWD- aiming for change
Global Wellness Day is a non-profit social project dedicated to ‘living well’. According to the GWD team the main aims are to:
- To pause and think, even if for just one day of the year
- To recognize the value of our lives
- To be free from the stress of everyday city life and bad habits
- To make peace with ourselves
- To raise awareness about living well and increase motivation, not just for today, but for the remaining 364 days of the year
Jupiter’s continuing wellness support
Forming part of the Jupiter Group wellness team, our UK based Personal Trainer Lucy currently delivers weekly remote stretch and strength sessions to our teams globally via Zoom. Gentle exercise and stretching is not only said to reinvigorate your body but it can also release unwanted tension and help with your mental health.
You can find a link to a full session with Lucy on our YouTube channel.
In addition to the remote wellness classes that we currently offer, pre-COVID, our teams in South Africa had the opportunity to take part in yoga classes to promote mindfulness and our Netherlands based colleagues participated in a communal healthy lunch option each Friday afternoon.
We are also delighted to be proactive in our local communities, ensuring that our NHS heroes in the UK and those most at risk of poverty globally were provided with a healthy and nutritious fresh fruit snack option whilst the supermarkets were unable to provide a consistent supply to the general population.
Proud to support women
We’re also so proud to be supporting women and girls globally through our Period Poverty Project.
As a way to provide friends of Jupiter a task to keep busy during the continuing lockdown and something to make a real difference in the lives of others, we’re asking for help supporting the mass making of reusable sanitary products from dis-used clothing items.
You can find out everything you need to know in our YouTube tutorial.
Our friend, Clinical Psychologist and Consultant in Mental Health and Wellbeing, Dr Vikki Barnes was also on hand at the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic to provide a message of positivity and wellbeing that you can read all about on the news section of our website.
