Cape Town’s premier Soccer youth competition, the Tournament of Light has unfortunately been cancelled due to concerns around the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
We announced at the start of the year our continued support of Rockafellas Football Club and the fantastic Tournament of Light that brings so much joy to the community’s local to Cape Town. However, the Rockafellas executive committee have made a tough decision that sees the event unfortunately cancelled for 2020.
Nino Solomons, Club Administrator says:
“The current state of affairs with regard to the coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic has presented many health, safety and economic hardships that in our judgement make it inadvisable to hold the event without the risk of potential harm and hardship for our Sponsors, participants, SAFA/MPLFA -, FMC -, City of Cape Town Officials, Supporters, etc.”
Safety from drug related crimes
Rockafellas FC are a football club and non-profitable organization that play an integral role in keeping South African youths away from the prolific drug and gang related crimes associated with the township areas of Cape Town.
Through our Nancy Tweddle Foundation, Rockafellas Football Club is just one of the community initiatives that we have been a long term and proud supporter of in South Africa. We look forward to continuing our support of Rockafellas FC in the interim and the re-commencement of the competition in 2021.
