Is your mid-morning apple is beginning to feel a little tedious? Are your bananas turning brown? We all know we need to pack in the goodness, sometimes a little inspiration is all we need.

Keeping fit and healthy in these unprecedented times is causing its own challenges, but as the fresh produce supply nears normality, there are quick and easy ways to ensure that your body is getting all of the right nutrients to keep your mind and body in tip top condition.

Immune boosting goodness

There are so many ways to incorporate your five-a-day into your meals, snacks and drinks without reaching for the biscuit tin or letting anything go to waste that you’ve not quite consumed before its best! How about trying some of these delicious immune boosters over the coming days:

Healthy smoothie breakfast bowl

What you’ll need:

  • Milk
  • Oats/granola
  • Mango
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Banana
  • Kiwi

Chop up and combine the delicious fresh fruit in a bowl, making sure the chunks are small enough to mix with each other.

Add a hand full of oats and a splash of milk to bring it all together. Voila, a deliciously healthy smoothie breakfast bowl.

The Super Green one (vegan)

What you’ll need:

  • A squishy avocado
  • Kiwi
  • Turning bananas
  • Ice cubes
  • Spinach
  • Oat milk
  • Honey/stevia

Combine half a ripened Hass avocado, a banana, a Hayward kiwi, a handful of spinach, 100ml of oat milk (or non-dairy alternative) and several ice cubes into a blender. Blitz until the required consistency and add honey or stevia to taste.

What you’ll need:

  • Carrot
  • Apple
  • Ginger (fresh, squeezed or dried)
  • Fresh lemon
  • Turmeric (sprinkle from the spice rack)
  • Water
  • Ice cubes
  • Honey

This delicious smoothie can be made with ingredients that many people have in their pantry. Simply blitz a peeled carrot and apple with a teaspoon of ginger, a sprinkle of turmeric from the spice rack, a squeeze of fresh Eureka lemon with a glug of water and a few ice cubes. Once it’s at the required consistency add honey for that extra sweetness.

Remember, don’t throw away your squishy fruit!

Add a squeeze of Eureka lemon, Tahiti or Persian lime to your creations for a bit of zing!
