With three apprentices, a former apprentice and a placement student, the Jupiter HQ in Newport Shropshire is a great place to combine studying with practical ‘on-the job’ training.

Why an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are a great way into the working world as it allows the opportunity to build on a solid educational foundation by gaining practical working experience.

Valuable insight into the working world is gained when working alongside experienced staff with many job-specific skills expanded too. It’s the chance for students to earn a wage and be fairly compensated for their time and hard work.

Apprenticeships can take between one and five years to complete depending on the level of qualification gained at the end of them.

Jupiter also provide valuable opportunities to University students in the form of placements which see temporary jobs gained in the corresponding area to their degree.

Jupiter’s awesome apprentices

Our Accounts Assistant Will finished his Finance apprenticeship in 2019 and completed AAT level’s 2 and 3 with the intention of now starting a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification.

He says: “I chose this path because I’ve always been good with numbers and I wanted to do an apprenticeship in either finance or architecture as they are solid career choices. Jupiter gave me the opportunity first and I haven’t looked back since!”

Marketing Apprentice Lauren is busy completing her Level 3 Digital Marketing course which is set to be finished in 2020.

Lauren says, “the best decision I made was becoming an apprentice, it’s the best way to gain real working life experience, as well as having the benefit of earning at the same time.”

Accounts Apprentice Cameron is completing an AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting.

On choosing his apprenticeship, Cameron says “my father and uncle are both from successful finance backgrounds and I think a strong financial understanding can lead to success in other departments such as sales or procurement.”

Georgia is in the second year of her Food Industry Technical Professional Degree Apprenticeship and works as a Technical Apprentice.

On her Degree Apprenticeship Georgia says “doing an apprenticeship has proven to be very challenging at a young age. While all my friends are at Uni partying and experiencing the Uni life, I am working nine hours a day as well as studying. However, I love to be kept busy and be challenged, which I definitely am!”

Former Marketing Assistant Shona spent her placement year with the Jupiter team.

Shona says, “working for Jupiter Group as part of my placement year from university was an invaluable experience. I experienced how marketing is an integral department to the supply chain of a fast paced and constantly evolving sector. I learnt the art of writing for different audiences, managing the back end of an app and increasing flow of communication between departments. All the while working as part of an enthusiastic and supportive team. I couldn’t recommend it enough.”

An easier transition into a career

We’re proud to provide the opportunity for young minds to excel in a work space where their work has meaning and they can function as valued members of the team.

Yvonne Tweddle, Joint MD of Jupiter Group adds “Degree apprenticeships are a great way for students to gain true work life experience and become both competent and confident in their field before they’ve even graduated. It sets students up for an easier transition into a career that’s not at entry level as they have gained so much from their practise and understanding from their placement.”
