It’s been another huge year for us that has seen the expansion of the group in the Netherlands, Colombia and Argentina, ranking again in the top 25 of the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, our ARRA 32 rootstock arrived in India in a world’s first, our global award winning CSR initiatives were recognised and so much more…

2019 has been an exhilarating ride for us here at Jupiter with every single day a unique experience. Following on from an incredible 2018, it’s hard to know where to start with all of the brilliant news from our last twelve months.

The latest additions to the Jupiter family

Midway through the year our acquisition of Cool Fresh International BV, now formally trading as Jupiter Group took place which included the introduction of pineapple, melon, avocado and lime to our core portfolio.

We were also able to welcome Jupiter EGSA (South America) and Jupiter Colombia on-board later in the year which again strengthened our product range extensively.

Exclusive production and marketing rights

The year continued in an upwards trajectory with Grapa Varieties awarding us the exclusive production and marketing rights for ARRA variety table grapes in India.

In 2019 we let it be known that we had awarded the exclusive production rights for ARRA varieties in India to Sahyadri Farms. This announcement saw the collective ‘marginal farmers’ of the country benefitting from a global infrastructure in conjunction with the fresh produce multinational.

First ARRA 32 plants arrived in India

In a world’s first, ARRA 32 (ARRA MYSTIC DREAM™) rootstock arrived in India through our partnership with Sahyadri Farms.

The plant stock arrived in India with the root and plant joined together with an attractive red wax which drops away as the vine grows.

The first Indian ARRA 32 will be introduced to the perfect tropical climate meaning that the first commercial crop could be ready as early as the end of 2020.

Supporting Global Women Fresh

Towards the end of 2019 we announced that we are to formally sponsor Global Women Fresh’s next event at Fruit Logistica Berlin 2020. GWF look to create a positive change in the global community through ‘connecting, inspiring and empowering women in the fresh produce industry’. We couldn’t be more pleased to be the main sponsors of the next GWF event.

We did it again…

For a second year running we made it into the coveted Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, ranking an impressive 22nd. This meant that we remained one of Britain’s fastest growing companies when it comes to multi-million-pound international sales, and one of the “proud” engines of the British economy.

Jupiter’s year of events

In February we kicked off our year of events at Berlin Fruit Logistica. The year continued with a busy schedule of unmissable fresh produce events including the London Produce Show, Asia Fruit Congress and Asia Fruit Logistica, Madrid Fruit Attraction and the PMA Fresh Summit Convention + Expo to name just a few. For 2020 we have decided to not have a stand at Berlin Fruit Logistica but will 100% have a team there on the ground.

An award winning year

We were particularly proud to have been crowned 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility Award winners at the 10th annual Family Business Awards. We faced stiff competition in the category and were delighted that our efforts to give back to local communities, the wider society and the environment had been recognised.

We were also pleased to announce that we were chosen to make up part of ELITE’s Future Shapers report. Jupiter was picked as one of 50 companies that have been selected by ELITE that are growing, prospering and innovating from a range of nations, sectors and backgrounds.

Our speaking engagements

CEO and Joint MD Mark spoke as part of a panel on IP developments in the fresh produce industry at Asia Fruit Congress, while wife and Joint MD Yvonne provided Madrid Fruit Attraction attendees with the exciting story of Jupiter’s inception later in the year.
