Our successful 2022 Valencia Turkey season has seen record numbers of harvesting this year.
We’re delighted with our high pack out volumes, and the fantastic quality Valencia oranges are now en route to our global customers.
Our Midknight and Delta Oranges
Our premium Valencia varieties Midknight and Delta, will be harvesting over the coming days on our Limpopo Farm in South Africa. We’re amongst the first to harvest these varieties which allows us to pack some of the earliest fruit in the country.
Our Midknight variety is a virtually seedless, medium to large fruit of excellent quality. The variety possess a unique flavour often referred to as ‘tart and tangy’.
Besides the brilliant flavour the Midknight variety brings to the palette, they can also provide a huge 116% of your recommended daily intake of vitamin C, helping with the healthy function of your immune system.
Our Delta variety is a vigorous fruit and grows fuller than some traditional Valencia oranges with a sweeter taste that often ripens earlier.
The South African Delta’s well-balanced profile lends itself perfectly to both eating and juicing.
Our South African packhouse progress
In line with our vision to become the most transparent company in fresh produce, we take our responsibilities seriously including our continued focus on sustainability, social responsibility and health and wellbeing.
In line with this, we’re excited to announce that solar panels have been installed on the roof of our Limpopo packhouse. Now fully functional, the solar panels allow the control office to run completely off grid, no longer relying solely on traditional power supplies.
The solar panels are made from photovoltaic cells that convert the sun’s energy into electricity. Additionally, they’re helping us to support our local biodiversity by providing undisturbed habitats and reducing unnecessary noise pollution that occurs whilst generating electricity.
