Helping underpriviledged children in Asia

An inspirational charity event in Hong Kong has raised more than £88,000 to help underpriviledged children with a little help from us here at Jupiter.

The Fat Boy Tens Charity Golf and Rugby Tournament is a major annual event that raises “significant funds” to pay for “medical missions” – these include feeding programmes, which help impoverished youngsters in Asia.

Our CEO Mark Tweddle agreed to become a sponsor for the annual fundraiser, through our Nancy Tweddle Foundation, after hearing all about it on a recent visit to Hong Kong, where our team recently attended Asia Fruit Logistica 2018.

Event raised over 900,000 HKD

We’re delighted to reveal that together the rugby and golf elements of the event raised more than 900,000 in Hong Kong Dollars, which would be around £88,200.

A Fat Boy Tens’ spokesman said: “Just want to say a big thank you for all of your support for our very big charity weekend in the form of The Fat Boy Tens over in the Philippines to help street kids, grass roots rugby and medical missions.

“We managed to raise over HKD900,000 with great support from Jupiter.”

A fabulous charity

This fabulous charity also supports the development of local grass-roots rugby, which includes in the Philippines, and has plans in the pipeline to extend its reach further across South East Asia later this year.

You can read more about the tournament, which is hosted by Hong Kong social rugby team The Pot Bellied Pigs, in our blog here.

All scores, and finals results, from the tournament are available on Facebook here and here’s a link to a Facebook video on the event.
